Brother Steve McGeorge from the Enfield Ecclesia in Adelaide lead the 2019 studies on Samuel - Israel's Greatest Reformer. He was a great man who oversaw the transition of God's people from a collection of individual tribes governing themselves to a single seat of government over the whole kingdom. Yet it was more than just a change of government that Samuel saw. It was a period of enormous change and transition in other areas too - a reformation was taking place and Samuel was the instigator. From the last of the Judges to the first in the ministry of the prophets, from a priest in the tabernacle, to headmaster of the school of the prophets, Samuel was responsible for many good and lasting changes in the nation of Israel. He was instrumental in setting up the new Kingdom, preparing David for taking over from Saul, providing plans for the conducting of worship in the new temple and being the spiritual father and leader of the nation. He truly was Israel's greatest reformer and his life has many lessons for those who seek to maintain the good reforms he introduced in their own lives and Ecclesias today.
The children enjoyed Sunday School lessons on some exciting stories from the life of Samuel, making some wonderful creations to go with the lessons.
Just over 170 people attended the Bible School and there was a wonderful spirit of fellowship and enjoyment the whole weekend. Sports, swimming (despite the cold!), a mountain bike ride, catapult building and firing, Bible readings, milkshakes, chats and board games were enjoyed in the afternoons.
This year's fundraising dinner was Mexican themed and held upstairs in the clubhouse to keep out of the cold!
In the evenings we commenced the camp with a competitive games evening, were enthralled by a glimpse into the Angel's war room with brother Dan Jolly and inspired by the greatness of God's word in looking at how Chiastic structures work and are used in the scriptures with brother Steve McGeorge.
